| Cala'n Bosch Villas |
The resort of Cala’n Bosch is one of Menorca’s newer resorts, having been developed in the main during the late 1980’s onwards, and is an extremely popular area. The journey from Mahon airport takes approximately one hour, but Cala’n Bosch is only a very short drive from the nearby old capital of the Island, Ciutadella. The focal point of the resort is its man-made Marina Beaches The beach at Cala’n Bosch is of a fair size and offers fine white sand, gently shelving into the crystal clear waters, and therefore affording safe bathing for all the family. The beach of Son Xoriguer is just slightly further along the coast, again with fine white sand, for those wishing for a change of scenery. Eating Out Whilst there are small clusters of restaurants in various parts of the resort, the focal point is the Marina, which has a wide range of restaurants offering everything from pizza and pasta to traditional Menorcan cuisine, and where you can while away the evenings by the water’s edge watching the stylish yachts and small craft. Leisure The beach at Cala’n Bosch caters for all members of the family, offering sun beds and parasols for hire, beach bars and pedaloes for the children. At the nearby Son Xoriguer beach there is also a choice of two sailing schools and tuition in windsurfing, dinghy or catamaran sailing, canoeing and water skiing. The Aquarock Water park is just a few minutes walk from the Marina, and there is also ‘Goody Goody Park’ near the Marina, which has a good choice of bouncy castles, ball pits, water slides and trampolines. For shopping, the Marina comes alive in the evening with stalls selling all types of crafts, or head into nearby Ciutadella for traditional markets and a chance to shop at the more stylish designer and artisan shops. Places to Visit Whilst the beauty of Menorca lies in its stupendous choice of natural, unspoilt beaches, there are also many places of interest to visit. Spend time in the charming squares and alleys of the historic centre of Ciutadella, and if you are lucky enough to be in the town for its Fiesta of San Juan held each year towards the end of June, this is a spectacular sight with Horses in the streets and Firework Displays. Head across the Island via the three main towns of Ferreries, Es Mercadal and Alaior, to the Capital of Mahon with its magnificent natural harbour, the second largest in the World, and also home to the famous Xoriguer Gin Distillery. |
