Castelo/Gale/Vale de Parra/Guia: 45 minutes drive from Faro. Situated just 4kms west of Albufeira the villas in these sought after villages of Castelo and Gale are generally a short walk from a small choice of restaurants, mini-market and bars, with the long sandy beaches backed by cliffs also nearby. Gale beach runs for over 5kms. Both beaches have excellent restaurants where you can go and enjoy the local ‘catch’ of the day! Vale de Parra translated means the Valley of the Grapevines and our properties here are in peaceful countryside locations, just a few minutes drive from the above facilities and beaches, as well as Sao Rafael which is backed by dramatic red sandstone cliffs. The village of Guia, renowned for its famous Chicken Piri Piri dish is just 5kms inland from the coast and 15 minutes drive from Albufeira. Beaches The beaches of Sao Rafael, Castelo and Gale are some of the finest in the Algarve with their dramatic red sandstone cliffs and rock formations in the sea. The more popular Gale beach runs for over 5 kms with numerous beach bars along the way. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to hire on the beaches, and most have buggy/wheel-chair access. Eating Out The nearby town of Guia, home of Portugal’s famous chicken piri-piri is a five minute drive away and well worth a visit. All the resorts offer a good choice of local and international restaurants and at nearby Albufeira you will find a variety of excellent restaurants to suit all tastes. Leisure The resorts offer many entertainment facilities, in addition to water sports on the beach, including dolphin watching, deep sea fishing, water skiing, within a 5 minute drive away. Zoomarine theme park and Slide & Splash Water Park are both 10 minutes away.. The new “shopping Algarve” is a comprehensive shopping centre situated just outside Albufeira. Places to Visit The Algarve is full of fantastic towns and villages to visit, among the most popular include Lagos, a major port once the home of Prince Henry the Navigator with buildings dating back to 1445. Visit Tavira to escape the more 'modern' resorts of the Algarve and surround yourself in the history and architecture of probably the Algarve's most elegant town. Loule is a historical town. The walls of it's 12th Century castle still stand, and now surround the town's museum, displaying yet more treasures of this beautiful town's past. Dominated by it's Roman castle, Silves is situated above the River Arade and the Beer festival is worth a visit. Take a leisurely drive up into the Monchique mountains for a change of atmosphere with its wooded hillsides and thermal spa. |
