Glorious
Menorca
in May
The
Menorcan countryside in May is spectacular, the wild
flowers are in full bloom, the fields are a haven to
the herds of milking Friesians, lush with spring
grass, and the trees are cowering under the weight of
the full blossom.
What
a delight it is to see the cows herded into the
milking sheds as
you stand waiting at the adjoining cheese shop counter
to buy the freshest of
Mahon
cheeses all produced on the island.
A
wander along the Mahon Port (crammed with spectacular
yachts) brings you to the small boat houses where the
local fishermen are selling their catch of the day,
wander a little further and you can browse through the
local shops,
displaying unique clothing, exquisite hand made
jewellery and of course the famous Menorcan Abarcas
sandals.
The
coves and beaches
are lapped by clear gentle seas and the
restaurants are uncrowded and most welcoming.
As
for the weather, you can expect temperatures hitting
their 20’s in the day and cooler in the evening.
All in all a beautiful time to visit a glorious
island.
