A
recent survey by the Post Office, where 18
destinations were researched, showed that
Spain
and
Portugal
were among the ten most affordable places to holiday
in 2009.
Despite
the weak pound visitors to these two hot-spots will
still be able to find good value by shopping around.
The “locals” recognise the economic
problems and have acted by reducing their prices to
encourage the British public to return to their
countries rather than switching to places such as
Bulgaria
and
Turkey
.
Post
Office head of travel services Sarah Munro said:
"The eurozone has taken a bashing this year but
our survey suggests that tourist outlets in many
resorts are taking dramatic steps to encourage
tourists”.
Today (7/5/09) the pound showed the first signs
of recovery when the euro hit
an all year high against the £ and stood at €1.137
= £1.00
