Around Five Million UK travellers are predicted to
book their 2009 Summer holiday before Christmas,
according to a new survey by TNS.
The results suggest that 10% of the
UK
population will book their summer break in the next
two to three months with many already
reviewing the offers for the coming year and
wishing to secure their preferred holiday choice.
Consumers said they were also keen to book
early so they had time to budget for the family break.
Tom Costley, Head of Travel and Tourism, said “This
early indication of the prospects for the 2009 season
must be reassuring for the holiday industry.”
He added “There seems to be a resilience
among large sections of the population that holidays
are of sufficient importance that it is worth planning
ahead for 2009, despite the economic uncertainty”.
Out of those surveyed, a majority of 60% said the
“credit crunch” was not likely to have an effect
on their holiday plans.
