Whilst
most “euro zone” destinations are feeling the
squeeze of the recession,
Bulgaria
is bucking the trend and the popularity of the country
is in higher demand than ever.
It
is not surprising when you consider the
cost of
living is on average three times cheaper than here in
the UK, and that even takes into account the hike in
prices since the country joined up to the Euro.
In many of the holiday resorts you will not pay
more than €1 for a beer or 50 cents for a coke or
glass of wine. A
loaf of bread is just 30 cents (compared with £1.20
here in the
UK
and €1
on the Med) and the cost of jumping in a taxi will
cost you a fifth of what it will in
London
.
Dining
out is a real pleasure, with Salad as their national
dish, you will find the menu’s packed with a
delicious choice of every imaginable salad including
fresh fish and with meat five times cheaper than at
home, the average
cost of a good meal
will cost around €8 pp.
The
cost of renting accommodation in the Balchik area of
Varna
, during the peak months of July and August will
cost as little as £975 per week for a four bedroom
villa with private pool, with smaller two bedroom
villas starting at £645 pw.
