MENORCA
Menorca is still one of the best kept secrets in the Mediterranean. Those who visit do so time and time again seeing and learning a little more on each trip. Allegedly, the habitual Menorcan visitor keeps the secret of this enchanting and unique island to himself – deliberately. The capital, Mahon, and the former capital, Ciutadella, are seeped in colourful history and both boast some of the most stunning architecture in the Western Mediterranean. Visit the fish market in Mahon and ponder over the fascinating variety of freshly caught fish. Look out especially for the different types of squid and octopus. Next door, the other markets are housed in the cloisters of a former convent. Try some of the famous Mahon cheese or some succulent Menorcan lamb. On Menorca you will notice the starkly contrasting geography from North to South. Much of the North is accessible only by boat – fascinating fishing villages and secluded coves are just waiting to be discovered. To the South, the sandy beaches, the restaurants, the bars, the cuisine, the friendly people, the history, the architecture, and above all the island’s abounding charm, will make you want to return as soon as you can to the Mediterranean paradise.
